Have your say on our proposed Regulatory Strategy 2027-2035

Today, Qualifications Wales has opened a 12-week consultation inviting people to share their views on its proposed Regulatory Strategy 2027-2035.

The strategy will set out how Qualifications Wales intends to regulate qualifications and awarding bodies in Wales from 2027 to 2035, providing a clear long-term framework for our regulatory work as the qualifications landscape continues to evolve.

The proposed strategy builds on the principles that already guide Qualifications Wales's approach to regulation, with our work being transparent, accountable, proportionate, consistent and targeted.

It sets out a proposed vision for a qualifications system in Wales that is trusted, fair, agile and inclusive, supported by four regulatory priorities: assurance, prevention, innovation and inclusion.

Denver Davies, Director of Regulation at Qualifications Wales, said:

"Regulation plays an important role in helping to maintain confidence in qualifications and ensuring they continue to meet the needs of learners, education providers and employers.

"As we develop our first formal Regulatory Strategy, we want to hear a range of views on our proposed vision, priorities and actions.

“Our proposed vision is for a high-quality qualifications system in Wales that is trusted and fair.  We’ve opened a 12-week consultation to give you the opportunity to help shape the final strategy before it is published in 2027. We’re keen to hear your views on whether our proposed vision, priorities and actions are appropriate, and whether there are any additional regulatory, equalities, Welsh language or other impacts that we should consider.

Whether you work in education, qualifications, skills, or simply have an interest in qualifications in Wales, your feedback will help us shape our final strategy and our regulatory work for the years ahead."

The consultation is open to everyone. We will analyse and consider all responses as we finalise our strategy, ahead of publishing next year.

The online consultation closes on 6 January 2027.
